His Excellency the Govr communicated to Mr Speaker the fol-
lowing Message (Vizt)
Gentlemen of the Lower house of Assembly
Mr Cresap one of your Members for Frederick County, having
represented to me Since the last Session of Assembly & before the
Indians recommenced hostilities against these Colonies, that parties
of the Six Nations who were then considered as Friends, frequently
called at his house on their Excursions to the Southward, & insisted
on his Supplying them with Provisions & Other Necessaries, by
advice of the Council I recommended it to him to furnish such parties
with the provisions he Should think necessary for them, and en-
couraged him at the same time to expect, that, as his doing so was
the only way to prevent their Committing Depredations on the Fron-
tier Inhabitants, reasonable Satisfaction would be made him for such
Provisions at the next meeting of the Assembly: if therefore he shall
exhibit a proper Acc.t to Shew what Expence he has been necessarily
put to by such Parties of Indians calling at his house. I hope you will
think it incumbent on you to take the same into Consideration & to
provide for his Reimbursement Hor.o Sharpe
