An Act to impower William Clajon and Mary his Wife Administra-
trix of Gamaliel Butler late of the City of Annapolis to sell a
Lot of Ground and three Dwelling Houses for the Payment of
the Debts of the said Gamaliel Butler.



Whereas William Clajon and Mary his Wife Administratrix of
Gamaliel Butler late of the City of Annapolis deceased by their
humble Petition to this General Assembly have Set forth that the
said Gamaliel Butler died leaving Issue one Son by Mary his Widow
who has since Intermarried with the said William Clajon and that
the Personal Estate of the said Gamaliel Butler was insufficient to
pay off the large Sums of Money and Tobacco in which he was
indebted at the Time of his Death and that the said Gamaliel Butler
died Seized of a Lot of Ground and three Dwelling Houses
Scituate in the City of Annapolis.

And Whereas it appears to this General Assembly that there hath
been a full Administration of the Personal Estate of the said
Gamaliel Butler and the same hath been over paid and that there Still
remains Several Large Sums of Money due from the Said Gamaliel
Butler on Bonds and otherwise.

It is therefore prayed that it may be enacted And be it Enacted
by the Right Honourable the Lord Proprietary by and with the
Advice and Consent of his Lordship's Governor and the Upper and
Lower Houses of Assembly and the Authority of the Same That the
said William Clajon and Mary his wife shall be and are by Virtue
of this Act impowered to Set up and expose to sale at Publick
Vendue to the Highest Bidder a Lot of Ground No 102 with the
three Houses Thereon Situate lying and being on the North East side
of Annapolis to Satisfie and pay the Debts still remaining due from
the said Gamaliel Butler as aforesaid three months notice of the
Time and Place of such Vendue being first given in the Maryland
Gazette and the Said Lot and Houses and all the Estate Right and
Title of the said Gamaliel Butler at the time of his Death to make
and convey by Indenture of Bargain and Sale or by any other proper
Conveyance to any Person or Persons who shall bid and give the
best and highest Price therefore as fully and effectually to all Intents
