An Act to change the Name of Zacheus Barret to that of Onion.

Whereas Stephen Onion late of Baltimore County Iron Master
deceased being seized of a Considerable Real Estate did by his
last Will and Testament give his whole Real Estate to his Nephew
Zacheus Barret who should from thence forward be called Zacheus
Onion and his Heirs of his Body by the name of Onion for ever
and the said Zacheus Barret hath prayed this General Assembly that

an Act may pass Changing his Sir name from Barret to Onion.

Be it therefore Enacted by the Right Honourable the Lord Pro-
prietary by and with the Advice and consent of his Lordships
Governour and the Upper and Lower Houses of Assembly and
the Authority of the same That it shall and may be Lawful for the
said Zacheus Barret from henceforth to take upon himself the sir
name of Onion insted of that of Barret and the children of the
said Zacheus now born or hereafter to be born shall and may take
and bear the Sir name of Onion, and that all Securities Promises
Contracts Assurances and Deeds Whatsoever heretofore made or
hereafter to be made by or to the Aforesaid Zacheus by the name
of Onion shall be of the same Force and effect and Equally avail
to all Intents and Purposes as if Onion had been the true and
Proper Sir name of the aforesaid Zacheus from his Birth, any Law
Statute or Custom to the Contrary Notwithstanding.

[Preamble.]

An Act impowering the Justices of Charles County, to Levy on the
Taxable Inhabitants of Portobacco Parish, in the said County, a
Quantity of Tobacco for the Uses therein mentioned.

Whereas the Vestry-men and sundry other Inhabitants of Port-
Tobacco Parish, in Charles County, have, by their humble Petition
to this present General Assembly, set forth, That the Chapel of
Ease erected in the said Parish is much too small for the Purpose
for which it was intended, and for Enlarging the same, have humbly
prayed that a Law may pass, impowering the Justices of Charles
County aforesaid, to Levy on the Taxable Inhabitants of Port-
Tobacco Parish aforesaid, the Quantity of Twenty-five Thousand
Pounds of Tobacco, together with a Salary to the Sheriff for Col-
lecting the same; which being thought reasonable, it is prayed that
it may be Enacted.
