And be it Enacted, by the Right Honourable the Lord Proprietary,
by and with the Advice and Consent of his Lordship's Governor,
and the Upper and Lower Houses of Assembly, and the Authority
of the same, That the Justices of Charles County, for the Time
being, shall and may, and they are hereby authorized and directed,
on the Application of the Vestry and Church-wardens of Port-
Tobacco Parish, in Charles County, or the Majority of them, to
assess and levy on the Taxable Inhabitants of the said Parish, the
aforesaid Quantity of Twenty-five Thousand Pounds of Tobacco,
together with the Sheriff's Salary of Five Pounds per Centum for
Collection, at Two equal annual Assessments; which said Quantity
of Twenty-five Thousand Pounds of Tobacco, shall be collected and
levied by the Sheriff of the said County, who is hereby authorized
and directed to Collect and Levy the same, in the same Manner as
other Parish Assessments are by Law directed to be Levied and
Collected; and the said Tobacco, when so collected, shall be paid to the
said Vestry and Church-wardens, or the Majority of them, who are
hereby authorized and directed to lay out and apply the same in
Building and fully compleating an Addition to to the Chapel of Ease
aforesaid, in such Manner as to them shall seem most fit and
convenient.
