62 Kent County Court Proceedings, 1648-1656.
Liber A That his losse and damadge, sustained by Gyles Bleake in the non
performance of Condition, the fetchinge, or looseinge, of his sloope
& boat and also the sloope beeinge almost made unseruiceable as yor
deponent is Credibly Informed, hee doth auere & depose tht his
dathagc is no lesse thcn Foure thousand pounds of tobacco, Or tht
hee is dameniffied by the sd Blake the Full value of foure thousand
pounds of tobacco, and of all the forementioned sloops hire, and
other dathages, hath Receiued no part or parcell and further saith not

The plaintiffe hauinge made appeare to the Court by suffissient
Euidence that there is Justly due to him, out of the Estate of
Gyles Bleak Foure thousand pounds of tobacco,
The Court doth therefore Order that prsent payment shall bee
made out of the Estate of Gyles Bleake desseassed Foure thousand
pounds of Tobacco and Caske to the said mr Thomas Cole els
Execution
The depossition of Wm Price aged 30 yeares or theareabouts
taken in Court the first of May 1656 sworn Examined & saith
That mr Hinson Came to yor deponent about an hower within
night, & desired him & John Salter to prisse twoe Cowes & a yearlinge
heifer, wch belongd to mr Brounes Estate, & at tht prseflt wee beeinge
by the fire side, in Salters house mr Hinson Askt us if wee knew the
Cattell; & when wee saw them; & yor deponent ansrs tht hee saw thm
not since sunday last, & then the weare well, & heareupon hee gaue us
Or Oath, by the firesid, & then appointed us to goe forth togather and
prisse thm, to the best of or knowledge, and wee prissed the twoe
Cowes at Eleuen hundred and the heifer at twoe hundred; & further
saith not;

The depossition of Jno Salter aged 32 yeares or theareabouts
taken in Court the first of May 1656 sworne examined & saith
The same verbatum exprest in the fore goinge depossition only
exepted that wheareas Wm Price hath this Expression, tht hee sawe
thm not since sunday last; but yor deponent Concerninge see inge of
thm, had not seene the Cattell of a longe tyme beefore, but mr Hinson
sayd the Cowes weare those twoe Cowes, tht yor deponent had in his
possession the last sumer & further saith not;

This bill byndeth mee James Homer my heires Executrs Admini
or Assignes to pay unto mr Henerie Morgan his heires Executors or
Assignes the Compeat quantitie of Fiue hundred pounds of good
sound marchantable tobacco & Caske to Containe the same due to bee
payd upon the Isle of Kent at or beefore the tenth day of Octobr next
