Somerset County Court Proceedings, 1665 1668. 617 Whereas Nehemiah Covington Complained agst Ambros Dixson Liber B No. 1 Attourney of William Smyton for tobacco alleadged to be due And whereupon the Courte doth ordr Ambros Dikson to pay unto the said Nehemiah Covington foure hundred pounds of tobacco & Caske The said Nehemiah Covington giving security to repay the same againe to the said William Smyton or his assignes upon a further pceding if itt be made appeare within a year & a day next Insueing not to be Justly due Att A Courte houllden for tht parte of the province of Maryland [p.7] lying & being betweene Chaptank & Wattkins pointe &c 10th January1665 Present Mr Steven Horse mr George Johnson Capt William Thorne mr John Winder mr William Stevens mr James Jones Whereas Joseph Huse Complained agst Henry Boston That to bacco was due to him from the said Henry Boston by Consent of the parties aforesaid the differance was referrd to a Jury who gaue in their verditt for the said Joseph Huse That the said Henry Boston should paye unto the said Joseph Ruse foure hundred pounds of tobacco & Caske & all accompts Cleared tht appeared before the Jury tht day To all people to whome this writinge shall come Robert Harte of Anamessix one the eastearne shore in the province of Maryland plantr sendeth greeting: Nowe Knowe yee tht I Robert Harte for diversse good Considerations mee thereunto moveing doe giue grante bequeath & by these presents haue giuen granted & bequeathed unto John Richards of the shore & province aforesaid two Cowes & one Cowe Calf e with all their Female Increase being marked as Foll: (vizt) slitt one the left ear & underbitted & overbitted of the right ear) untill the said John Richards doe attaine to the age of twenty one yeares & then the Cowes & Calfe abouesaid with all the female Increase is to be delivered into the Custodie & keeping of the said John Richards as his proper goods; But & if the said John Richards shall depart this mortall life before he attaine to the age of twenty one yeares, Then the aforesaid two Cowes & Cowe Calfe with all their Female Increase shall be the proper goods of Robert Harte Junior; To haue & to houlld the said two Cowes & Cowe Calfe being marked as aforesd with all their Female Increase till the age afore said; And then as his or their proper goods with all their Increase for ever: And I the aboue said Robert Harte doe by these prsence quitt Claime all my right title or Interest for mee my heires executrs admrs or assignes For ever to be debarrd from haveing any Inter est or clayme in the said Cowes or Cowe Calfe or any parte of their |
