Kent County Court Proceedings, 1656-1662.183 suyt wch was granted & now the Plant beinge Cald by the Sheriff three Liber B times, doth not appere The Deft craues a nonsuyte wth Charges The Court doth therefore order the Plant to pay Fifty Pounds of Tob, Court Charges Else Execn This prsent Court doth Order that the next Court shall be holden the 16th day of this Moneth of Feb. 1659 I doe Appoint Matthew Reade of Kent to be my true & Law full Atturny to Demand or cause be demanded of John Erickeson the Some of Fower hundred & tennth due p bill Acco one hundred & Fiftylb of Tob & CaskeWittnesse my hand this 9th day of Janu A° 1659 Anthony Griffin Testes John Cowrsey Jn° Derous Allexsander Towrson sworne in Courte Saith That yor Depont brought from william Hambleton to John Erickson three Bushells of Apples & one Case of Sider or Perry, & Further saith not Allezander Towrson Teste me J on Cowrsey Clar William Richards doth enter more unto his marke tht is, a slitt, in the Cropp on the Right Eare of his Cattle. Teste me John Cowrsey Clar Caecilius absolute Lord & Propriatary of the Prouince of Mariland & Aualon, Lord Baron of Baltemore &c, To the Sheriffe of Kent County Greetinge whereas by the Aduice & consent of our Councell wee haue determined to hould an Assembly of the Free men of our Prouince at mr Thomas Gerards on the last Tusday in February next ensuinge there to consider of certine things concearninge the State & welifare of this our Province of Mariland wee Comand you John [fol. 72] Coursey sheriffe of Kent County tht makinge proclamation as soone as conueniently may be after the receipt of this writt, yow Cause Fower discreete Burgesses to be elected to serue in the sd Assembly there to doe & consent to such things as by Comon consent shall hap pen to be ordained & enacted in the buisinesses aforesd, soe tht through want of suffitient Power or inconsiderate Election of the aforesd Burgesses, the buisinesses aforesd may not remaine undone or neglected & make your returne of this writt into the Secretaries office by the seuenteenth of Feb. next.
