other Damage. We cannot suppose it was done under your Direction,
or in any Manner connived at by you; but as every Act of Violence
or Invasion of private Property, by the Military, ought to be enquired
into, redressed and, in future, prevented, we desire you to inform us
immediately, how this happened and what particular Damage has
been committed.

Many Applications have been made to the Board for the Hides of
the Cattle slaughtered in Frederick Town. As we are unacquainted
with the Value of them, we have referred the Disposal of them to
you. From the Number of Applications, we suppose they must be in
great Demand, we would have you contract for Shoes in Exchange
for the Hides. M^r John Roberts, the Bearer of this, has applied for
the Hides and is strongly recommended by M^r Calhoun, M^r Good is
also well recommended. We have not Time to answer your last
Letter, but will do it by the next Opportunity.

Thursday 29^th November 1781.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Daniel Jenifer
Esq^r one hundred and sixty five pounds, nine shillings and two pence
of the Bills emitted under the Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit
&^ca of the money appropriated for the present Campaign p Acc^t
passed by the Aud G^l
That the said Treasurer pay to Edmund Plowden Esq, twenty
eight pounds, one Shilling and eleven pence and also to Mess^rs Ridley
and Pringle fifty one pounds, four shillings and three pence specie
agreeable to the Act to adjust the Debts due from this State p Acc^t
passed by the Aud G^l
That the said Treasurer pay to Capt George p. Keeports nineteen
pounds, nine shillings and nine pence specie agreeable to the Act
aforesaid.
That the Said Treasurer pay to John Smith Brookes Esq^r thirty
two thousand and fifty one and a quarter pounds of Tobacco includ-
ing the four per Cent due him for Goods per Acc^t passed by the
Aud. Gen^l.—

That the said Treasurer pay to Capt Geo. p. Keeports twenty
thousand pounds of Tobacco lying on Patuxent River on Account
That the Armourer deliver to Serjeant Issabell two Axes for the
use of the Hospital —

That M^r Bullen deliver to Capt George Keeports one of the public
Horses in his Possession. —
