gave it as his Opinion, that he might safely proceed in his Business,
as no Such Law existed to his knowledge — but Contrary to his ex-
pectation he was presented and fined by the said Court to the full
extent and rigour of the Law — that he has for several Years past
been very unlucky by the Death of his Slaves, and loss of his Cattle
&ca and has a large and helpless Family to Support, whose ruin must
be enevitable if he should be compelled to pay the said fine, which
said Allegations as set forth in the Said Petition are certified by
three of the Justices of the said County Court to be true Whereupon
the Board taking the Same into Consideration, do order and direct
a Remission of the fine aforesaid. —

The Honorable Gabriel Duvall Esquire attended. —
William McLaughlin Esqr exhibits an Account of Andrew
Buchanan Esqr against Daniel Dulany Junior, son of Walter, for
forty six pounds, seventeen shillings and ten pence — examined and
passed by the Audr General the 17th October 1782 and approved by
this Board. —
Gabriel Duvall Esqr exhibits to this Board the Bond of James
Chalmers to Sylvanus Prothero dated 6th of August 1775 for the
Sum of Thirty pounds, Balance the 6 Instant Twenty three pounds,
six shillings and six pence — the Bond of James Chalmers to Hugh
Lennox for Seventy eight pounds, thirteen shillings and six pence
half penny Balance thereon including Interest to the 6 Instant Seventy
pounds, five shillings and five pence half penny and also an Account
of Robert Anderson against James Chalmers, bale thereon Four
pounds, eighteen shillings and eleven pence half penny passed by the
Auditor General and approved. —

Mr Francis Curtis exhibits a Judgment obtained by Patrick Hamil-
ton against Robert Christie for Nineteen pounds, thirteen shillings
and an half penny Current Money passed by the Audr General 14 In-
stant approved by the Board. —
