Monday 26th April 1784
The Council met
Present the Honorable Gabriel Duvall, John H Stone, John David-
son and Charles Wallace Esquires. —
Commission issued to Nathaniel Wilson appointed one of the
Coroners of Calvert County —
A petition from Elisha Hopkins of Ann Arundel County was laid
before the Board, setting forth that in the Month of March 1781
he was ordered to do duty as a Militia man on Guard at Thomas's

Point when his wife was so dangerously ill that it would have been
a most unfeeling act to have left her, and that in Consequence of his
disobeying the Order, he was fined the Sum of fifty pounds specie,
which he conceives to be grievious and oppressive; and the Board
taking the Petition and the Proceedings of the Court Martial into
Consideration, are of Opinion that the fine is excessive and do there-
fore remit forty five pounds specie of the same. —

In Consequence of a Letter of this Day from the Honorable Jacob
Read Esquire Chairman of a Committee of the United States in
Congress assembled, signifying that Congress had Matter of Infor-
mation to communicate to the Executive, the Council convened.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning 9 "Clock. —
