Tuesday 13th April 1784
The Council met

Present the Honorable Gabriel Duvall, John Hoskins Stone and
Charles Wallace Esquires. —

Lieutenant John Trueman having by satisfactory proof made it
appear to this Board that he was maimed and disabled in the Action
before Camden on the 25 Day of April 1781, in such manner as to
render him incapable of any Active Employment, the Justices of the
Orphans Court of Ann Arundel County are directed to draw on the
Treasurer of the Western Shore for such Pay or Pension as is
directed by the Act for the Relief of disabled and maimed Officers,
Soldiers Marines and Seamen, passed October Session 1778. —

The Honorable Samuel Turbutt Wright Esquire attended
A Petition from Edward Morgan of Baltimore County was laid
before the Board, setting forth that he was recognized in the Sum
of Ten pounds Current Money for his Appearance at September
Criminal Court for Baltimore County; now last past to answer a
Presentment for an Assault on a Negro Woman; that the said
Recognizance was respited to January Court when he appeared but
being unacquainted with the Proceedings of the Court, and thinking
it sufficient to appear during their Sitting without remaining there
until called upon, his Recognizance was forfeited, and Execution
issued thereon, and on the 25th Day of February last he was com-
mitted Jail for the Same; that he is a poor distressed man, having
a Wife and two Children, who depend entirely on his Labour for
Support and during his Confinement were maintained by their
Friends, and further that he is unable to Satisfy the Execution afore-
said; and three of the Justices of Baltimore County Court having
certified that the Case of the said Edward Morgan was truly stated,
and recommended a Remission of the aforesaid Recognizance and
the Board taking the same into Consideration do order a Remission
of the Recognizance aforesaid for the reasons above stated and to
enable the Said Edward Morgan to Support and Maintain his Family
and to prevent him from becoming a Burthen to the Community —
