want the Boat tomorrow : you will therefore have every Thing ready
for them to go on Board. You will call on Charles Blake Esqr Com-

[Council to General Smallwood.]

We are greatly perplexed by the Applications of Soldiers for
Cloathing. It is impossible for us to tell who has, or who has not
been supplied. We wish some Mode of issuing could be introduced
of furnishing them, which would not be subject to the Abuses of the
present. Would it not be better, if you were to give Orders on the
Cloathier without our Interference at all? Should you be of this
Opinion, we will direct the Cloathier to obey your Orders; we have
hitherto issued upon the Certificates of the Officers.

Ibid.

[Council to Colo Joseph Dashiell]

Yours of the 15th Instant we received this Day. From the Infor-
mation you have given, that the Corn is all damaging and will be
totally lost, if not soon disposed of, and that it is not worth the
Freight to any Part of the Bay; we request you to dispose of it as soon
as possible on the best Terms you can.
