Present as on Yesterday
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer issue Certificates agree-
ably to the "Act proposing to the Citizens of this State, Creditors of
Congress on Loan Office Certs &ca " to Nathan Gallian for Seven-
teen pounds, eight shillings and ten pence and to William Smithson
for Nineteen pounds, two shillings and one penny due on Continental
Loan Office Certificates adjusted by the Depy Audr the i S Instant
That the said Treasurer issue a Certificate to Bladen Cracroft
agreeably to the Act aforesaid for Thirty six pounds, four shillings
and three pence due on Continental Loan Office Certificates adjusted
by the Depy Audr
That the said Treasurer issue a Certificate to Samuel Magruder
of Ninian agreeably to the Act aforesaid for One hundred and
ninety three pounds sixteen shillings and eight pence due on Conti-
nental Loan Office Certificates adjusted by the Deputy Audr 4th
August last
A Petition from Martha Johnson of Frederick County was laid
before the Board & read, setting forth that she became bound in the
Sum of One hundred pounds Current Money for the appearance of
her Brother Henry Johnson in in the General Court to answer an
Indictment for stealing a Calf the property of a certain Michael
Smith; that she was induced to become Security for her Brother's
Appearance from hopes that his Innocence would appear, but to her
great Grief he had made his Escape and left the State whereby her
Recognizance was forfeited and an Execution issued against her
Property to levy the Sum aforesaid and therefore praying a Remis-
sion of the said Sum; And the Judges of the General Court having
stated the Case of the Petitioner signifying their Opinion that the
Sum for which she and her Brother Robert Johnson became bound
for the appearance of Henry Johnson was more than adequate for
the purpose, and recommended a Remission of Eighty pounds to
each of them — The Board upon Consideration of the Premisses, are
of Opinion that Eighty pounds part of each of the said Sums of One
hundred pounds be remitted to each of them the said Martha John-
son and Robert Johnson and do order a Remission accordingly. —
The Board resumed the Enquiry into the Charges against the Jus-
tices of Harford County, and not having time to come to a conclu-
sion, the further Consideration is postponed 'till to Morrow. —
