Present His Excellency William Paca Esquire Governor
The Honorable Benjamin Stoddert, Gabriel Duvall, Jeremiah T.
Chase and James Brice Esquires. —
A petition from Richard Morland, Thomas Bean, Jacob Morland,
Stephen Morland, Rhody Adams, Josias Adams, Martin Marr,
John B. Higdon, Thomas Nelson, William Davis, Mattawoman,
Isaac Money, John Mankin, Durham, Randolph Davis, Butler Stone-
street, Jeremiah Hughfield, Stephen Cawood, George Adams, Wil-
liam Mankin, Ignatius Hamilton, Henry Beane, and John Barry of
Charles County was laid before the Board setting forth, that they,
not from Disaffection, but from a variety of Incidents had omitted
to take the Oaths of Fidelity and Support to Government : that in
Consequence of Sundry Acts of Assembly passed in favor of certain
Non-jurors they conceived themselves to be relieved from all penal-
ties & Disabilities incurred by their omitting to take the Oaths afore-
said, and therefore gave their Suffrages for Representatives at the
last Election for the County aforesaid, for which they were pre-
sented and fined by the Justices of the Court of the County afore-
said, five pounds for every hundred pounds of property assessed to
them, and therefore praying a Remission of the fines aforesaid —
And thereupon the Board taking the same into Consideration, and
the Justices of the Court aforesaid who imposed the said fines, hav-
ing recommended a Remission thereof; and having certified their
Belief of the truth of the facts stated in the Petition aforesaid, are
of Opinion that the fines imposed on the persons aforesaid for the
Offence abovementioned ought to be remitted, and do order a Re-
mission thereof accordingly. —

Ordered that the Issuing Commissary issue provisions for ten
Days to John Park, Joseph Pollemus and James Conan belonging
to the Corps of Invalids in Philadelpa now waiting for the Auditor
General to adjust the Depreciation of their pay. —
