way Forty three pounds, fifteen shillings Current Money for a Quar-

That the said Treasurer pay to Robert Hanson Harrison Esqr
One hundred pounds Current Money for a Quarters Salary due the
1st Feby last
That the said Treasurer pay to John Rogers Esquire Three hun-
dred pounds for Six Months Salary due the 1st of August last

Stone Esquires
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to James O Hara
a Blind soldier, Five pounds Current Money allowed him by this
Board in Virtue of the General Assembly July Session 1779. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Benjamin Stoddert and John H
Stone Esquires, each, One hundred pounds Current Money for a
Quarters Salary due them the 8th August last

Capt Delisle informs Us that he took about 140 hhds Tobacco
from Virginia and cleared out from thence, and that he afterwards
brought his Ship to Patuxent to compleat her Load, and that you

now refuse to clear her, unless he pays 5/ p hhd upon the Tobacco
he brought from Virginia. There is no existing Law imposing a
Duty of 5/ p hhd upon Virginia Tobacco under these Circum-
stances — that part of the Act of June 1780 which imposes a Duty
upon Tobacco and Pigg Iron, exported from this State was repealed,
by an Act entitled An Act to repeal certain Duties, passed April Ses-
sion 1782 and it is our Opinion, that the Virginia Tobacco not being
Landed in this State, is not Subject to the one p Cent imposed on all
Goods imported into this State by the Act which passed November
Session 1782, entitled An Act for the Defence of the Bay and to
impose certain Duties on imported Articles. —
