Emission of Bills of Credit &ca of the money appropriated for the
Defence of the State on Account
That the said Treasurer pay to Frederick Green four pounds, one
Shilling and one penny Specie due him for Postage of Letters per
Account passed by the Depy Aud. —
That the Commissary of Stores deliver to John Hanson a soldier
in the 3d Regiment one waistcoat, one shirt, one pair of Breeches, one
pair Shoes and one hat. —
Whereas, William Groves of Harford County did on the 15th Day
of June 1781, enter into Bond with one sufficient Security to the
Governor and Council for the Time being in the Penal Sum of seven
hundred and fifty pounds Conditioned that he would not depart the
District of Harford County without leave being first obtained from
the Governor and Council and that he would be of good behaviour
during his continuance therein. Be it known, that Circumstances
having changed the said William Groves and his Security shall be
discharged from the said Bond upon his giving Bond for the same
Sum with sufficient Security that he will not depart this State, and be
of good Behaviour during the present War — on Mr Richard Dallam's
certifying that the last mentioned Bond is duly executed then this
shall be deemed a full Discharge from the Bond of the 15th of June
1781.—

We have sent you by Mr Stewart £35. agreeable to your Request
but cannot furnish you with any more Money, until your Account is
setled with the Auditor.

[Council to John Smith Brookes Esqr]

We send you by Mr Poole £500. of the late Emission to be applied
in Payment for Beef Cattle procured in your County. This, with
the Money you have already received, will amount to a much larger
Sum than any other Commissary has received under similar Circum-
stances; it will therefore be necessary to have your Account adjusted
before any farther Sum can be delivered.

The aforegoing is the Copy of a Letter we wrote the 4th of last
month and, as it is full on the several Matters contained in yours of
the 14th ulto, which we have just now received; we have only now to
request that you will sell as much public Flour or Wheat, as will pro-
cure the Salt you are in need of. We have sent you £600 of the last
Emission for your other Purposes.
