[W Paca in Council to Honble Robert Morris Esqr]
We have had the Honor of receiving yours of the 27th February
last, nominating James Nourse Esqr to succeed Daniel De Saussure
Esqr in the Office of Commissioner for setling the Accounts of this
State. Our Legislature having hitherto thought proper to exercise
the Power of approving or rejecting the Nomination to this Office,
we do not incline to decide upon it; but shall take the first Oppor-
tunity, to communicate your appointment to the Assembly at their
next Meeting, which will be the 21st of this Month; and we doubt
not, from the Confidence Sir, they have in your Integrity and Judg-
ment, it will be approved and confirmed.

Persons to be appointed in each County to ascertain upon Oath, the
Damages done by the Enemy within their respective Counties and to
report the same to this Board. As soon as we are furnished with
their Returns, you may rest assured Sir, that no Time shall be lost
in transmitting to you, properly authenticated, the Information you
