Tuesday 17th December 1782

Present His Excellency the Governor.
Benjamin Stoddert, Gabriel Duvall, Jeremiah T. Chase & John H.
Stone Esq™.
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Jesse Selby
eighteen pounds, twelve shillings — Samuel McGee eleven pounds, two
shillings and two pence — Thomas Beatty (Guardian to Nicholas
Mansells Heirs) four pounds, Andrew Boyd four pounds, thirteen
shillings and six pence & seventeen pounds eight shillings and ten
pence — Christian Hoover twenty nine pounds, three shillings and
four pence, Jacob Martin thirty two pounds, eleven shillings and
Charles Warfield seventy four pounds, six shillings and two pence
specie agreeable to the Act to adjust the Debts due from this State
per Accounts and Certificates adjusted and passed. —

That the said Treasurer pay to Allen Quynn Esquire one hundred
and eleven pounds, sixteen shillings and seven pence half penny Specie
due him for Wood purchased for the Troops per Account passed. —

That the said Treasurer pay to Thomas Johnson Junr one hundred
and eighty three pounds, two shillings and nine pence and also the
further Sum of fifty three pounds, two shillings and nine pence specie
out of the money appropriated for the Barges to be by him Ac-
counted for. —

Agreed that this Board will on Monday next proceed to an
enquiry into the Conduct of Captain Dashiell of the Barge Terrible
in the late Action with the Enemys Barges — Ordered that Notice
be given to Captain Dashiell and that the Officers of his Barge, and
of the Barges Fearnought and Defence be directed to attend on that
Day.—
Agreed that this Board will on Monday the 30th of Decemr Instant
proceed to an enquiry into the Conduct of Lieut Botfield of the Barge
Fearnought in the late Action with the Enemy's Barges — Ordered
that Notice be given to Lieut Botfield — and that the Officers of the
Barges Fearnought, Terrible and Defence be directed to attend on
that Day. —
Commissions issued to Nicholas Worthington, Elijah Robosson
Samuel Harrison, Allen Quynn, Samuel Harrison of Richard, Rich-
ard Harrison of Richd, Thomas Tongue, William Hyde, John Bur-
gess, Elisha Warfield, Francis Fairbrother, John Brice, Benjamin
Galloway, Thomas Worthington and James Kelso appointed Justices
of the Peace for Ann Arundel County.
Nicholas Worthington, Allen Quynn, Samuel Harrison of Richd
William Hyde, Francis Fairbrother, John Brice and Benjamin Gallo-
way Justices of the Orphans Court of the County aforesaid. —
