[Wm Paca in Council to His Excy The Chevr de la Luzerne]

We have the Honor to transmit to your Excellency a Resolve of
the General Assembly, with a Copy of our Letter to Commodore
Ville Brune and his Answer thereto.
Overwhelmed with Obligations to your great and generous Nation,
it is not Sir, without much Embarassment that we presume to solicit
the additional Favor of being assisted with the armed Vessel called
the Pole Cat, of 14 Guns. Your Excellency's Candor will impute
this Requisition to the calamitous Situation of our fellow Citizens
whose numerous Farms and Plantations adjacent to the Water are
now exposed to the Depredations of the Enemy's Barges. —

Saturday 14th December 1782

Present as on Yesterday. —
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to His Excellency
Governor Paca twenty pounds, seven shillings and three pence specie
out of the money appropriated for the Barges per Account passed. —
Commission of Letters of Marque and Reprisal issued to William
Weems Commander of the Ship Nantes one hundred and seventy
eight Tons burthen, navigated by thirty men, mounting eight Car-
riage Guns belonging to Charles Wallace, John Muir, David Weems &
William Weems of the State of Maryland and Joshua Johnson &
De L' Ormelia of Nantes in the Kingdom of France. —
Permission given to Richard Beard Junr of Ann Arundel County
to go into New York by Dobbs's Ferry to carry his Son Necessaries
who is a Prisoner. —

Monday 16th December 1782

Present His Excellency the Governor.
Benjamin Stoddert, Gabriel Duvall & James Brice Esquires.
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to George Hawn
nine pounds, sixteen shillings and eight pence — George Onstreet nine
pounds fifteen shillings and Peter Chaille one hundred and ninety
pounds, nine shillings and nine pence and fifteen pounds, eighteen
shillings and four pence specie agreeable to the Act to adjust the
Debts due from this State per Accounts passed. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Lieuts Samuel Hanson & David
Luckett each, twenty five pounds, nine shillings and nine pence specie
out of the money that came from the Havana put into the Treasury
by Major General Smallwood to be by them Accounted for. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Thomas Johnson Junr fifty
pounds specie out of the money appd for the Barges to be applied in
making advances to the Officers & Crew of the Barges on Account. —
