[Council to Capt. Daniel Bryan.]
We request you to proceed immediately to Baltimore for a Load
of Flour. The Flour being nearly expended at this Place, will require
your utmost Dispatch. Since writing the above, twenty Soldiers in
the small Pox, have arrived in this Town, and as we apprehend great
Inconveniences will arise from their remaining here, during the Ses-
sion, we request you will take them on Board and deliver them to the
Care of Doctr Wiesenthall in Baltimore.

[Council to Alexander Clagett Esqr Sher. of Washington County.]
A Petition signed by many respectable Inhabitants of Washington
County in Favor of Henry Newcomer, requesting a Remission of
the Fine lately imposed on him by the Special Court; but it being still
undetermined by the General Assembly, whether that Power may be
rightfully exercised by the Governor, we have not considered the
Subject. To prevent the Hardship and Injustice which may arise
from an immediate Sale of his Property, we think it adviseable to
suspend the Sale thereof during the present Session of Assembly, or
until some Order is taken therein, and do accordingly, require you to
suspend the same.

We are informed by Colo George that you have not received ours
of the 5th Inst which was sent immediately after it was wrote and we
cannot conceive how it could miscarry; we have therefore enclosed
you a Copy and, as the Demand for the Salt is very pressing, we
request your immediate Compliance with the Contents thereof. —
