get to Philadelphia, for it is not in our Power to supply them.
Vessels shall be provided to transport the Troops to the Head of Elk,
if you will let us know the Day they will be wanted. We will chear-
fully pay the Officers who have been employed in the Recruiting
Service &ca the Money directed by the Act of Assembly, but as for
other Advances, we lament that it is not in our Power to make any
to the Officers or Soldiers.

Monday 30th September 1782

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Nicholas Cline
six Pounds and Lodowick Smith four Pounds three shillings and four
Pence of the Bills emitted under the Act for the Emission of Bills
of Credit &ca due them per Accounts passed. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Frederick Green four Pounds,
eight shillings and six Pence specie for Postage of Letters per
Account passed. —
That the said Treasurer pay to John Wilmot one Pound, two
shillings and six Pence specie due him per Account passed. —
That the Issuing Commissary deliver to Capt William Middleton
two Barrels of Flour and one Barrel of Pork to be Accounted for. —

[Council to Delegates in Congress]

Major Landsdale will want, from the Public Magazine at Phila-
delphia, sixty Blankets, for the Troops under his Command. We
are so desirous that the Men should have Blankets before they go
into the Field, that we request you will procure the Number wanted,
on the Credit of the State, if the Public cannot supply them, and we
will take Care that the Means of Payment shall be put in your
Hands in a Month from the Time you make the Purchase.

Tuesday 1st October 1782

The Bond of Thomas Contee with L. Hollyday Security, to this
State given agreeable to the directions of the Act of Assembly en-
titled "An Act to empower Thomas Contee to settle & Collect the
Debts due to William Molleson and Robert Molleson or either of
them and to apply the same" is approved by the Governor and
Council and lodged with the Board. —

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Simon Ratalick
six Pounds, four shillings and six Pence specie out of the money
appropriated for the Barges per Account passed. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Alexander Contee one hundred
and forty four Pounds, three shillings and four Pence Specie out of
the money appropriated for the Payment of Creditors of a Particular
description due him per Account passed. —
