Purchaser must pay down on the Day of Sale, one fourth of the
Purchase Money, and the Residue in ten Days, or forfeit the first
Payment, in which Case the Property must be again exposed to Sale.

[Council to Thomas Gray Esqr Sheriff of Calvert County]

It appears by the Petition of John Norfolk junr and the Letter of
Samuel Chew, James Heighe and Edward Johnson Esqrs Justices of
Calvert County, that the said John Norfolk was presented for an
Assault and Battery committed on a certain Dilah Taylor, and was
fined by the Court of said County £35. State Money, and that at the
Time of imposing the same Fine, the said Sum of Money was only
equal to £7. Specie. It also appears that the said John Norfolk junr
made full Satisfaction to the said Dilah Taylor for the Injury done
him. We do therefore remit all the said Fine except £7. Specie and
do direct you, on Payment of that Sum and Costs, to discharge the
said John Norfolk junr from the Execution for the same Fine.

Ordered That the western shore Treasurer pay to the Honble
Daniel Carroll Esqr one of the Delegates to Congress four hundred
and ninety seven Pounds, eighteen shillings and four pence Specie on
Account.

appointed Justices of the Peace for Caroline County, & Matthew
Driver, Hugh McBryde, Henry Dickenson, Charles Daffin & Phile-
mon Downes appointed Judges of the Orphans Court of the County
aforesaid, and also to
Ignatius Taylor, Hanson Briscoe, John Shanks, John Ireland and
Ignatius Fenwick appointed Judges of the Orphans Court of Saint
Marys County.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to William Logan
twelve Pounds, seven shillings and four Pence of the Bills emitted
under the Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit &ca for the use of
Hilliary Wilson due him for a State loan Office Certificate No 802
which was lost by Samuel Chew Esqr as appears by the Deposition of
the said Chew.
