[Council to The Chevalier De la Villebrune]

The Letter you honored us with of the 24th Instant, was laid
before the Legislature, and we beg Sir, you will believe that we feel
singular Pleasure in returning you, at their Request, the Thanks of
the State of Maryland for your prompt and generous Offer to co-
operate with our Barges. We cannot now, with Precision, [say]
when the Barges will be prepared to act; but we will take the first
Opportunity of informing you, and at the same Time will propose
a Place of Rendezvous, where we wish your Sloop to meet them.

Saturday 1st June 1782

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Salady Handley
twelve Pounds, six shillings and eight Pence — John Smith ten Pounds
thirteen shillings and four pence — Joseph Rose twelve Pounds, six
shillings and eight Pence & William Hopper thirty Pounds of the
Bills emitted under the Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit &ca
due them per Accts passed.
That the said Treasurer pay to Doctr Pindell of the Maryland
Line thirty Pounds of the same Emission in lieu of a Suit of Cloaths
and four shirts for the present year on Account.
That the said Treasurer pay to Marmaduke Tilden Esqr seven
hundred and thirty five Pounds nineteen shillings and four pence of
the same Emission per Certificate settled & adjusted.
That the said Treasurer pay to William Douglass Twenty five
Pounds, fourteen shillings and eleven Pence of the same Emission
due him on a Certificate settled and adjusted.
That the said Treasurer pay to George F. Hawkins Esqr one
hundred and forty four Pounds of the same Emission for the use
of Henry Stonestreet due him per Account passed.
That the said Treasurer pay to John H. Stone Esqr thirty Pounds
of the same Emission in part of his Salary on Account.
That the said Treasurer pay to William Paca Esquire eighty four
Pounds, seventeen shillings & ten Pence of the same Emission due
him on a Certificate issued agreeable to the Act to adjust the Debts
due from this State.
That the said Treasurer pay to Hugh McBryde, eleven Pounds,
sixteen shillings and two pence and William Douglass twenty seven
Pounds, seventeen shillings and eight Pence specie due them for
Money lent.
That the said Treasurer pay to James Sterett three hundred and
forty two Pounds, four shillings and eight Pence, and William
Hindman Esqr thirty three Pounds, two shillings and six Pence
Specie agreeable to the Act to adjust the Debts due from this State
per Certificates adjusted and passed the 31st May.
