Officer Commanding at the Out Posts of the American Army, for
leave to have an interview on the Lines with James Chalmers, her

[Council to Honble Judge Hanson]
Thomas White was apprehended, two Days ago, upon Suspicion of
his having been concerned with the Enemy in burning a Brig, be-
longing to Colo Dashiell, and of his having received some Plunder
from the Enemy, in Reward of his Services; we refer him to you
for Examination. Colo Dashiell can give you Information respecting
his Conduct in the Transactions alluded to, as well as his General
Character. If you cannot legally confine him, be pleased to let us
know it before he is discharged.

Friday 24th May 1782
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Doctr William
Baker four hundred and six Pounds, seven shillings specie agreeable
to the Act to adjust the Debts due from this State per Certificates
adjusted.
That the said Treasurer pay to William Yieldell nineteen Pounds,
fourteen shillings and six Pence specie due him per Account passed.
That the said Treasurer pay to the Honorable Robert Hanson
Harrison Esqr eighty Pounds specie to be expended in Defraying his
Expenses to the State of Virginia on Public Business on Account.

[Council to His Excy Governor Harrison of Virginia]
I have been favored with your Excellency's Letter of the 27th
ulto and as early afterwards as possible, I submitted the Subject of it
to the Consideration of the General Assembly of this State: you
will perceive by the enclosed Resolution of that Body, that they view
the Matter in the same Sight with your Excellency and I cannot but
regret, that the rash Conduct of an inferior Officer has induced you
to entertain an Opinion delogatory [sic] to the Honor of a State
which ever wishes to rest on Terms of perfect Harmony and Friend-
ship with the Commonwealth of Virginia. As there was an evident
Necessity for my referring the Matter to the Consideration of the
