Monday 20th May 1782

Commissions of Letters of Marque & Reprisal issued to George
Blackwell Commander of the Brig Hamburgh one hundred and
eighty Tons burthen, navigated by thirty five Men, mounting
Carre Guns, belonging to Paul Siemon & Company of Baltimore and
also to Thomas Patten Commander of the Brigantine Count Rocham-
beau, one hundred and twenty Tons burthen, navigated by seventeen
Men, mounting ten Carriage Guns belonging to Jonathan Hudson &
others of Baltimore.
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to William Roberts
eleven Pounds, eighteen shillings and four Pence of the Bills emitted
under the Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit &ca due him per
Account passed.
That the said Treasurer pay to Lewis Neth thirty six Pounds
fifteen shillings and Nicholas Thomas Esqr one hundred Pounds
of the same Emission in part of their Salaries on Account.
That the said Treasurer pay to Edward Lloyd Esqr fifty four
Pounds, fifteen shillings & six pence and Capt James Clandennin fifty
six Pounds, ten shillings specie agreeable to the Act to adjust the
Debts due from this State, per Account & payroll passed.

[Council to Thomas Sellers Esqr Naval Officer 4th District]

We are informed by the Governor of Virginia, that two Vessels
of War, the Cormorant and Oliver Cromwell, belonging to that
State, which went to the Head of the Bay with Troops, and from
thence to Baltimore, to fit out, have been assessed by you and a Bond
taken for the Payment of the Tax upon them. We wish to know,
as early as possible, the Size and Strength of these Vessels, whether
they were private or public Property, how long they lay at Baltimore,
and whether they were loaded as well as fitted there : you will also
inform us who gave Bond for the Payment of the Assessment.

Tuesday 21 May 1782

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to the Revd Lee
Massey five hundred & twenty two Pounds, nineteen shillings and
four Pence Specie agreeable to the Act to adjust the Debts due from
this State per Certificates adjusted & passed the 16th Instant.
That the said Treasurer pay to Adam Gray six Pounds, nineteen
shillings & eight pence Specie agreeable to the Act to adjust the
Debts &ca per Certificate adjusted.
That the said Treasurer pay to John Randall, three Pounds, sixteen
shillings & three pence Specie due him for Wax, Wafers, & Ink
Purchd of him for the use of the Council.
