help'd by bolting it over again shall do it, and any flour that you
intend for Mr Smith I take the Liberty of recommending that it be
made out of the new wheat (or good old) Manufactured from the
Origin for that purpose, I am incouraged To this from the assur-
ances received from the several Commissarys of this shore of great
Quantitys, of wheat being ready for collection a copy of one from
Mr Blake I send inclosed who I have ordered to collect the wheat
nearest the river, to Grainerys and sent it forward to this place, where
I will be accountable for the making it into any kind of flour you
shall choose to order, at any reasonable time from the date of its
arival, provided I am permitted to make sale of as much of the flour
as will enable me to defray the expence (which Mr Smith has or-
dered me to do) and which I am now about to do for expences already
created and shall order wheat which lays most convenient to Navi-
gation in Cecil, Kent, and Queen Anns Countys collecting for taxes
to be lodged in grainerys on Chester, Sassafras and other places
convenient to Navigation to be forwarded to this place, and here
Manufactured to compleat your present and future orders (unless
ordered other ways) to compleat which I have bespake flour cask,
wrote for nails, and am endeavouring to engage Mills with good
characters, and never failing streams of water, if cattle are to be
pastured or fed here pray inform me, that I may engage pastures and
have them kept up, and also bespeak tight casks if any Beef or Pork
is to be salted up, as we have suffered much heretofore for want of
good Casks, my accounts of wheat from Mr Voorhees are very simi-
lar to those from Mr Blake, I'le therefore thank you for further

P. S. I have requested the Comissarys of Cecil, Kent and Queen
Anns, to hasten their Collections of wheat as this is the time to Col-
lect when the people have it

Cap' Archer had the honor to hand a requisition on your State
from the honble Marquis Lafayette for some cavalry. I have to
solicite you'l be pleaStd Sir to aid us all you can in the augmentation
of the legion, We have had many manifest instances of your State
having the legion interests at heart.
I feel myself indebt'd in behalf of the partisan corps to return my
most hearty thanks, We are in the utmost distress for want of men
cou'd I be furnished with 90 or 100 of your levies or wou'd you be
pleased to furnish money & permission to recruit that number in
your commonwealth — I should esteem myself honor'd if you'l please
to write of Capt. Archers success & what may be my prospects from
your State. I beg the liberty of my most respectful compts to your
Lady — I have the honor to be Sir with Sentiments of the highest
respect
