Officers and men than any expectation of gain, as most of them live
round where these Deeds were done; and whose Hearts of Course
must pant for sweet Revenge.
We will say nothing to yr Excelly & Honm of our Difficulty in
supplying many little things that we stand in need of to compleat her
for such an Expedition, such things not being to be had in this Coun-
try Place.

We hope the Valour of the Crew will be the Furor armaministrat,
If they are not to be had.

[Wm. Leigh, Charles Coty to His Excelcy Thoms Simm Lee Esqr]

Mr Frank Leeke in consequence of not giting the money has
given up the ordr in behalf of Mr Jonathn Hudson or the Collectrs of
assesmts in his County, to me, the Colltors of this Coty say the ordr dos
not Extend to them only to the Prince Georgs Coty receivrs otherwise
they wou'd pay it immediately, hope you'l direct what must be done
and prevent any trouble and Expence coming to Annapolis to you.

I recd Your Honrs Letter of the 4th Inst the select Militia will
March on Saturday next, upwards of 100 well equipt have IncloStd
rects for the Cloathing sent up by Genl Smallwood and a List with
the Inlistments of the recruits and draughts sent down by the sergt
that came up with the Cloathing — the rects and draughts procur'd
under the Act of last Session shall be forwarded as soon as Possible.
As the Bearer has taken the Horses Seized in this Coty and will re-
turn Immedy shall Esteam it a favr to be inform'd of the Movements
of the Enemy &c

Thos Sim Lee]

I recd yours of the 4th Inst on the 8th wherein you Desire me
to send Toward to Annapolis the Waggons and Teams Collected by
me. This is to inform you I have no Teams Belonging to the Public
nither have I had Orders to procure any.

I have the Pleasure to inform you that the Militia of this County
hath turn out with great Alacrity and I believe wou'd have made
resistance had the Enemy Dared to Approach us, but to my great
mortification when we came to Equip them for Battle we cou'd not
arm more than about 1500 besides haveing no Camp Equipage,
their has been a few Iron Potts Purchased for their use, their is now
wanting at least 100 Cartridge Boxes 5 or 6 hundd Arms, Kettles,
Bucketts, tents and in short almost every necessary to enable us to
