[The Petition of Solomon Plummer of Talbot County to His
Excellency Thomas Simm Lee Esquire]

Humbly Sheweth. That Your Excellencies Petitioner (under a
late Act of Assembly) among the other Militia of the County afsd
have been Classed, and draughted as an able bodied man; Tho' very
infirm for some years past occasioned by an Imposthum in his Breast
that broak, & left him in a decline (as he thinks) which has rendered
him unable to work or do duty as a Soldier in the Field, and now
prevents him from marching out with the Draughts from the County
afsd agreable to orders of the Lieutenant and thereby has incured the
Penalty of said Act.
Your Petitioner being so unfortunately circumstanced, Humbly
requests the interposition of Your Excellency in his behalf; that
would be pleased to stay all further Prosecution against him for not
complying with the terms of the said Act or grant him such relief
as to Your Excellency shall seem mete
And Your Petitioner as in duty bound Will Pray
We the Subscribers do Certify that the above facts are true.

Excellency Thos S. Lee Esqr]

I have heard; within these few days that Genl Smallwood was to be
this way in a few days, if so I hope Mr Jno S. Brookes will send some
Supply's of flesh Provisions; as I have not more than one Beef left
for the Select Militia, Mr Jno S. Brookes was by letter to have sent
some Cattle to this post last Tuesday but what has prevented him, I
yet Cannot learn

[George Stricker, Frederick Town, to the Council.]

Agreeable to the Late Act of Assembly I have Seized for the
use of the County thirty six Horses of the Number Assigned for
this County Two of which I have Delivered to the Lieutenant of
the County for Particular uses as he Informed me, and Promised me
his Indemnification & the Majority of them are Draft Horses, and as
pasture at this Time is Difficult to Procure & although I got a very
good Meadow on my own Credit, as they did not Chuse to Credit the
publick for which I am to pay Twenty five pounds, and the Number
of Horses will soon Reduce it, although feeding them Twice a day
on Indian Corn and Brand, I shall therefore stop Collecting any
more as I can get the Difficent Number in a very short Time, as I
have them allready Pointed Out, and have been under the Necessity
of applying to the Lieutenant for a Guard, as I have had the fences
