Am this day Honored with your Excellencys letter of the 25th In-
stant appointing me to Receive & provide Quarters & Necessarys in
this Town for Recruits to be raised.
Am very much obliged to your Excellency & your Honorable
Council for the Confidence your pleased to Repose in me. Must set
out the begining of next week for Philadelphia & expect to be back
early the week after; If at my Return 'twill be time enough to enter
upon the business shall cheerfully engage in it. This being agreeable,
your Excellency will be pleased to Instruct me what the necessarys
are that I am to provide & furnish me with means to obtain them.

I have sent fourteen draughted Militia Men under the Care of
Lieutt Hugh McGuire, procured under a late Act of Assembly, to
serve in the Continental Army untill the 10th Day of December next.
A List of their Names you have inserted below — several of them
have been Waterman & seem very desirous of serving on board some
of our Barges, particularly Peter Harrington, Job Hubbert, Roger
Tregoe & Anthony Tall Junr — Inclosed you have Colo Dickinson's
and Lieut Colo JoneSts Lists of Officers wanting in their Battalions be
pleased to send Commissions for them as Oppertunity will permit.
I have desired Mr McGuire to apply to your Board to satisfy him
for transporting the draughted Men to Annapolis.

This is to inform you that there is a boat taking of State Tobacco
From Hunters Creek Ware house & cant get a full Freight I have
14 Hhds of Tobacco Prized & should be glad to put it on board if
you would give me Orders, the Ware house is so full of Tobacco that
we scarcely have room for any more, the Skipper have agreed to wait
untill the Return of the Post, therefore I should be glad to have a
spedy answer
