Annapolis, Chief Mate of a Vessel from Delaware, now a Prisoner
on Parole on Long Island, taken in June or July 1781 And in Order
to effect an Exchange of those Men, we enclose a Copy of the Parole
of a Captain Penny, who was intended to be exchanged for Middle-
ton, also the Paroles of Capt John Forsythe, John Newly Chief Mate,
Ranold Biton and Peter Maines foremast Men taken by Captn Weems
of the Porpoise on Board the Snow Little John bound from St Chris-
tophers to new Providence. You will be so obliging as to consult with
the Commissary of Prisoners on the most effectual Means of pro-
curing the Release of Middleton and those others mentioned, which
will render very essential Service to them & their Friends and greatly
oblige

There is a Quantity of public Flour at Waters's Mill at the Head
of Magothy River You will please to take the most effectual Measures
to have it brought here without Delay by impressing a Boat for the
Purpose of bringing it by Water or having it brought in Waggons by
Land

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to John Verdin one
hundred pounds of the Bills emitted under the Act for the Emission
of Bills of Credit &ca of the money appropriated for the present Cam-
paign to be delivered over to Daniel Jenifer Esqr on Account.
Commission issued to John Maschatt appointed Register of Wills
for Charles County in the room of Dan' Jenifer resigned.

Your Letter by Verdin relative to the Horses we have received.
Your Proposition concerning a little Bay Horse, we cannot possibly
comply with as Capt Jordan has taken him for the use of Lee's
Legion, which he says will answer, tho' not fully the Services of a
Dragoon Horse. We have enclosed you the Commission for the
Register of Wills, and have sent you one hundred Pounds by Mr
Verdin

Enclosed you have a Bond which we shall be obliged to you to see
executed by Samuel Gerrock, who was sent to Frederick County Goal
on suspicion of trading with the Enemy, and have also enclosed a
blank Discharge for him, on his executing the Bond, the Blanks you
will fill up, and transmit the Bond by the first safe Conveyance. If
Gerrock has been removed to Fort Frederick, please to enclose the
Bond with the Discharge to Colo Rawlings with the above Directions.
Yours of the 25th Septr and 3d Instant are reecived. We have ordered
