Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Capt William
Dent Beall sixteen pounds, fifteen shillings of the Bills emitted under
the Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit &ca of the money appro-
priated for the present Campaign due him per Account passed by
the Aud. Genl
That the said Treasurer pay to Isaac McHard twenty two pounds,
ten Shillings and five pence of the same Emission of the money afore-
said on Account.
That the said Treasurer pay to Lieut James Bagues of the Maryld
Artillery thirty pounds of the same Emission of the money aforesaid
on Account.
That the said Treasurer pay to Samuel Jack three hundred and
ninety one pounds, eleven shillings and eight pence of the same Emis-
sion, of the money aforesaid due him on two orders drawn by Major
General Greene one Dated 2d of December 1780 for thirty eight
thousand one hundred and eleven Dollars and thirty four ninetieths
of a Dollar the other Dated 6th March 1781 for eighty thousand
Seven hundred Dollars liquidated by the Auditor General.
That the said Treasurer pay to Nicholas Brewer twenty three
pounds seven shillings and six pence of the same Emission of the
Money aforesaid due him per Account passed by the Auditor General.

[Council to General Smallwood.J

A Vessel loaded with Flour for the Army below, is on Shore
at Thomas's Point and if not immediately got off, the Vessel will be
lost or the Flour must be thrown over board. We shall be much
obliged to you to send a sufficient Number of Men in the public
Barge now lying in the Dock, to man her and to assist in getting
off the Vessel. You will be so obliging as to direct the officer you
may send, to apply to Mr Shaw for the Oars &ca belonging to the
Barge. An Officer and twenty four Men, we think will be sufficient,
if any Seamen to be preferred.

[Council to General Washington.]

In Consequence of your Excellency's Requisition of the 15th of
September, the Executive of this State contracted for a Quantity of
entrenching Tools, and yesterday sent under the Care of Capt
Stephens 107 Shovells, 40 Spades, 54 Pick Axes, with a Parcel of
Augers and other Tools, and there is a good Prospect of forwarding
in a very little Time, a much larger Number with some Dozens of
Axes and Hatchets. If is very desirable to know as soon as possible
where the Cattle collected on the Eastern Shore shall be sent to, and
whether the Commissary General of Purchases has determined to
have them slaughtered and salted in Bulk for the Conveniency of
Transportation, or, if practicable to take them by Water alive, what
