[Council to Governor Nelson of Virginia.]

We beg Leave to request the Attention of your Excellency to the
Cases of John Laney, John Clabaugh and William Wilson, Subjects
of this State who have had their Waggons and Teams impressed for
the Service of Virginia by the Quartermaster of that State. We are
solicited to interfere in their Favor, and when your Excellency ad-
verts to the Particular Situation of the Citizens of this State, who
have, on every Occasion which called for public Exertions, yielded
Services of every Kind, and particularly in this way we flatter our-
selves you will give Directions for the immediate Discharge of the
Waggons, Teams &ca as enumerated in the Certificates herewith sent

Friday 28th September 1781

John Mills a Draught from St Marys County, having made it
appear to this Board by his Oath and Certificates from several Militia
Officers in St Marys County that he was enrolled in the Select Militia
of said County before the Draught for raising two Battalions took
place in the said County. He is hereby Discharged as not being
liable to be Draughted.
Ordered that the Commissary of Stores deliver to Serjeant Carter
of the Maryland Artillery one Coat, two shirts, one pair Woollen
overalls one pair shoes, one pair Stockings, one Stock & one Blanket
for the year 1780
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Captain William
Bruce of the 5th Regimt eighteen pounds, three shillings of the Bills
emitted under the Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit &ca of the
money appropriated for the present Campaign for provision per
Account passed by the Aud. Genl & to be charged to the Continent.
That the said Treasurer pay to Joseph Dowson Seventeen pounds,
fourteen shillings of the same Emission of the money aforesaid for
Clothing purchased of Dowson and Cowman per Acct passed by the
Aud. Genl
That the said Treasurer pay to Capt. Horatio Clagett sixteen
pounds, fifteen shillings of the same Emission of the money aforesaid
for retained rations per Acct passed by the Aud. Genl & to be charged
to the Continent.
That the said Treasurer pay to John Woolfe two hundred and
fifty pounds of the same Emission of the Money aforesaid to be
delivered over to Pat Sim Smith Comy of Calvert County on Account
and also to the said Woolfe fifteen pounds of the same Emn of the
money appropriated for the payment of Expresses &ca per Account
passed by the Aud. Genl
Ordered that the Issuing Commissary deliver to William Barrick
nine Days rations to enable him to return to Frederick with two men.
