Friday 21 September 1781
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Colo Uriah
Forrest sixty five pounds of the Bills emitted under the Act for the
Emission of Bills of Credit &ca of the money appropriated for the
Defence of the State in part of his Salary as Commissioner on
Account.
That the said Treasurer pay to John Shanks Twenty one pounds
one shilling and nine pence Specie agreeable to the Act to adjust the
Debts due from this State per Account passed by the Aud. Genl
17 Inst.
That the said Treasurer pay to Capt. Rezin Davis thirty pounds
of the Bills emitted under the Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit
&ca of the money appropriated for the present Campaign on Account.
That the Commissary of Stores deliver to the said Capt. Rezin
Davis a suit of Cloaths and Linen for two Shirts on account.

[Council to Governor Nelson of Virginia.]
We are honored with your Excellency's Letter of the 15th Instant
and shall feel ourselves happy in rendcering every Assistance in our
Power to the Army in Virginia; but from the distressed Situation
of our Commerce the Article of Salt has become very scarce within
this State and we fear, is not procurable in any short Time. We have
given Directions to forward all the Flour that can possibly be col-
lected, without Delay; upwards of 2000 Barrels are ready and Part
thereof shipped, the Residue will be forwarded with all Expedition

[Governor Lee to Governor Nelson of Virginia.]
This Moment, Major General the Baron Viomeniel completed the
Embarkation of the French Troops under his Command, destined for
Head Quarters in Virginia; Part of their Baggage only goes by
Water, the Remainder is sent off by Land. Apprehensive of Danger
from the Enemy after the Waggons pass Fredericksburg, the Baron
desired me to solicit your Excellency to afford Guards of Militia for
its Protection from thence to Williamsburg. The Baggage will be
at Fredericksburg about the 26th of this Month, and at Head
Quarters, if no Accident happens, the first of next.
