[Council to Charles Blake, Esqr.]
About 2500 or 3000 French Troops will embark at this Place on
Tomorrow or next Day. We have engaged to furnish the General
with 200 Head of Cattle; 150 at the least to be drove down to Kent
Point they must be there on the 19th and 20th ready to be delivered
to the General's Order. You must not fail to have the Cattle there
in Time, as the Consequence will be the detaining the Transports
and disgusting the Officers. You will employ as many Persons as
may be necessary to get the Cattle there at the Time appointed. If it
should not be practicable to have the whole there in Time, you must
collect as many as you possibly can. You are sensible this Business
is of the utmost Importance and merits and we doubt not, will have
your particular Attention. We have sent you by this opportunity
£500. As a very laudable Spirit prevails in your County and they
have manifested a Disposition to render every Aid to crown the
present Operations with Success, we wish you to procure in Addition
to the Number already assigned to your County, five hundred Head
