Troops from Baltimore to Virginia, it may be carried without Incon-
venience as Ballast. This Object is of such Magnitude, I entreat
your immediate Attention to it, and if you have not a Quantity be-
longing to the Public in your Hands, it would be well to borrow of
Individuals for a short Time, if such an Expedient is practicable.
There is no Council at present, but the Necessity of the Case justifies
my calling upon you in this Way.

Monday 17th September 1781.
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Richd Conway
one thousand and eleven pounds, eleven shillings and two pence and
six hundred and fifty seven pounds, five shillings and ten pence Specie
and also to Robert Powell three hundred and eighty pounds, nineteen
shillings Specie agreeable to the Act to adjust the Debts due from
this State per Certs and Accounts passed by the Aud. Genl
That the said Treasurer pay to Thomas Purdy one thousand
pounds of the Bills emitted under the Act for the Emission of Bills
of Credit &ca of the money appropriated for the present Campaign
to be delivered over to Charles Blake Esqr Commissary of Queen
Anns County on Account and also the further sum of seven pounds,
ten shillings of the same Emission on Account
That the said Treasurer pay to Joseph Brewer fourteen pounds
eighteen shillings & ten pence of the same Emission of the money
aforesaid due him per Account passed by the Depy Aud.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Zephaniah Turner
Esqr Twenty five pounds of the Bills emitted under the Act for the
Emission of Bills of Credit &ca of the money appropriated for the
Defence of the State on Account.
That the said Treasurer pay to Thomas Johnson junr three thou-
sand, five hundred pounds of the same Emission of the money appro-
priated for the present Campaign to be forwarded as follows, one
thousand five hundred pounds to Thomas Richardson Esqr Com-
missary of Montgomery County one thousand pounds to Colo Thomas
Price Commissary of Frederick County and one thousand pounds
to Colo Moses Rawlings Commissary of Washington County on
Account.
Permission given to Colo Uriah Forrest to Load two Vessels with
Flesh Provisions &ca for the French Fleet in Chesepeake Bay.
