We request you to procure 1000 Hats and 1000 Pair of Shoes fit
for soldiers, as soon as possible, for which Purpose we will supply
you with Money to pay for them; but if the Owners should refuse
to sell, you will then seize them and forward them in the waggons
to be sent to this Place by Colo Thomas

The Goods which Mr Richard Lemmon has secreted or sent out
of the way to prevent you from seizing them and executing the Law,
are forfeited to the State, or the Value thereof, so that it will be
necessary for you to give Information to two Justices of the Peace,
that Lemmon was possessed of such Goods and offered them for Sale
and hath since concealed them to frustrate the Act of last Session to
procure an immediate Supply of Cloathing &ca The ninth Section of
the Law empowers the Justices to take Cognizance of this Matter

and to give Judgment against Lemmon for the Goods so secreted as
the Value thereof for the use of the State. We are informed Lemmon
is possessed of 500 Pairs of Leather Breeches, you are hereby
authorized and requested to seize them immediately, if he will not
sell them to the State for the same Price for which he offered them to
Colo Smith, which is thirty five shillings a Pair. You will send down
the Blankets and Cloathing Tomorrow, or as soon as possible

Tuesday 4th September 1781

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to George Adams
seventeen pounds nine shillings and six pence of the Bills emitted
under the Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit not exceeding
200,000£s &ca of the money appropriated for the present Campaign
due him pr Acct passed by the D. Aud.
That the said Treasurer pay to Vachel Stevens Esqr Commissary
of Purchases for Ann Arundel County one hundred and fifty pounds
of the same Emission of the money aforesaid for the use of his
Department on Account.
That the said Treasurer pay to James Robertson, three pounds of
the same Emission of the Money aforesaid due him per Account
passed by the Depy Audr
