We request the Favor of you to order a trusty Serjeant and four
or five Men to go over Severn to Mr John Brices, to bring over three
Beeves from thence. The Letter herewith sent is to Mr Brice to
request him to deliver the Cattle.

The Necessity of an immediate Supply of flesh Provisions for
the Troops at this Place induces us to request you will deliver to
the Bearer hereof the three Beeves you offered to the State in your
Letter to Col. Brice

Ibid.

We have contracted with John Dorsey and Company for Cordage
for the Galley, you are building, and shall be obliged to you for a Bill
of what will be necessary for her immediately that we may write
to them to have it made

Ibid.

[Council to Francis Ware, Esqr.]

From every Information lately received, we have reason to believe
it is not the Intention of the Enemy to invade this State at this
Time, we therefore request you to discharge the Militia of your
County immediately.

Ibid.

[Council to Joseph Dashiell, Esqr.]

Yours the 5th was delivered to Mr Robert Potts on yesterday, we
have examined him and tho we do not think him criminal, yet we
think him reprehensible in giving any Assurances to the Enemy of
his being friendly to them to save his Property. On the 23d Ul' we
wrote to you to forward all the recruits Draughts and substitutes in
your County immediately to this City, and repeated it on ours of the
3d Instant and are not a little surprized at your not receiving them.

p. 243

We now reiterate our request that you will forward them immediately
to this City. We have appointed a special Court for the Eastern
Shore to be held at Cambridge and have requested the Judges to
meet as soon as possible and to call on the respective Lieutenants and
Sheriffs on the Eastern Shore for Information of the Criminals.
You will be so obliging as to send a particular Account of the Barge
mentioned in yours with her Costs we have not procured the Number
directed by the Assembly, and if she will answer the Purpose and the
Price is reasonable we will take her.
