[Council to Gen'1 Buchanan.]

The Intelligence received for some Days and this Morning induce
us to think the Enemy have declined to make the Attack on this State,
which their Behaviour and Movements indicated and of which we
apprized you, we therefore think it unnecessary that the select Militia,
the Militia at large and the Horse of your County should march or
continue any longer in Service and request you to discharge them
immediately enjoining them at the same Time to be prepared at all
Points to repel any Invasion, we request you also to inform the select
Militia and the Horse from Frederick which we have heard are on
their March, that we have wrote to the Lieutenant directing him to
discharge them immediately.

Ibid.
