Attention and the Governor is inclined to pardon them on their inlist-
ing, he waits only to hear from the Judges of the special Court.
Twenty two Pounds ten shillings Bounty is allowed to each recruit for
the war. If you will take the Trouble of conducting this Business rel-
ative to Gay and Cam for the Benefit of the State a pardon will [be]
issued upon their Enlistment, and the Bounty may be appropriated as
you shall settle it. It will be best for Mr Reasor to appear here and he
shall have every Encouragement. We approve of your Conduct as to
the Officer of the Guard over the Magazine and agree with you in
opinion that three commissioned Officers are more than necessary for
such a small Command. In our former Directions we desired you to
command the Guards, that all such Guards should be immediately
under your Command and subject to your orders. You will therefore
act accordingly, but have not any Power of discharging them as they
were raised by a particular Resolution of the Assembly.

We have appointed Capt Daniel Brian to the Command of the
Plater and request you will send her up to him immediately with
whatever appertains to her.

We have occasion for one hundred and fifty Sets of Furniture
and Arms for light Horse Viz. one hundred and fifty saddles Bridles
and Furniture compleat, one hundred and fifty Pair of Horse Pistols
and Holsters, one hundred and fifty Sabres or Swords rather, accord-
ing to the English Model at present used by their Horse if to be had
[with] Scabbards for them. These we request you to procure as soon
and upon the best Terms possible and we will furnish you with
Money of the new Emission for Payment when you want it.

The enclosed Copy of a Letter just received from Doc' McHenry
with a Copy of the Deposition of Arthur Cunningham render it
necessary to take every Precaution for the Defence and Protection of
Baltimore Town and Country, and we therefore request you to order
the Militia of your County to hold themselves in Readiness to march
at a moments warning and have the Arms and Accoutrements
examined and put in proper Condition for use, you may depend on
being regularly informed of every Thing material that occurs and of
receiving every Assistance that can be afforded by us.
