[Council to Charles Blake Esqr.]

The Samples of Cloths sent us in your last seized in Queen Anns
County, we think much too extravagant for the Quality will not
answer the Purpose they are wanted for; we wish you to return them.

agreeable to the late Act in Addition to the Ten heretofore ordered,
have them delivered to John Chrysal in this City

[Council to Colo. Joseph Dashiel.]

Application has been made to us by Capt Furnival for the Vessel
and Cargoe that you have seized and which was under the Manage-
ment of Samuel Gerrock, Capt. Furnival alledges that he chartered
this Vessel and that some of the Articles on Board are his Property
and was intended to he bartered for Plank &ca.

Ibid.

If you have good Grounds to suspect that Gerrock designed tc
trade with the Enemy, and that his taking out the Clearance was
done to conceal such Design and prevent a Detection. It will be
necessary for you to justify the Seizure and Detention of the Vessel
and Cargoe to have them libelled in the Court of Admiralty otherwise
we think they ought to be restored to the proper Owners. We have
appointed a Special Court to try the Offender on your Shore which
makes it necessary that you should have Sturgis and other offenders
you may apprehend secured and sent to that Court, unless they are
such whose Conduct brings them under the Description of Spies of
Emissaries from the Enemy
