to make any Regulations whatever relative to the conducting Ferries
or any other private Property. Whatever Contracts you may make
with Express Riders we wish to be very particular and strict; that
they may have no kind of Excuse for neglecting or evading the
Service required of them by the Public. The Terms you have made
with Giles we approve but will not consent to pay any extra Expences.

[Council to Gen'1 Buchanan.]

Daniel Hughes Commissary of Prisoners informs that there are a
Number of British Prisoners in his Charge which he wishes to get
rid of, you will be so obliging as to send the whole of them under a
sufficient Guard to Frederick Town in Frederick County to be de-
livered to the Lieutenant of that County, to be by him forwarded to
Fort Frederick, you will mention in the Orders given to the officer
whom you may send that the Prisoners are to go on to Fort Frederick.

We have received your Letter and have requested General Bu-
chanan to send the British Prisoners in your Charge immediately to
Frederick Town to be forwarded from thence to Fort Frederick. We
cannot admit Manger to his Parole.

power to assist the Baron Stuben with either Powder or Lead, we
spared more to you than we conveniently could on your request some

Prisoners to Frederick Town per Account passed by the Aud. Genl.
That the said Treasurer pay to Doctr Wiesenthal four thousand
five hundred and sixty seven pounds, two shillings and nine pence due
him per Account passed by the Aud. Genl
That the said Treasurer pay to the Honble Genl Smallwood eighty
four pounds, sixteen shillings for the use of himself Major Stoddert
and Capt. John Courts Jones due them for Stores p Acct passed by
the Aud. Gl
