[Council to Joseph Dashiell, Esqr.]

Your Favor of the 11th Instant was handed to us by Mr Truitt and
we have sent you a Warrant to apprehend and bring Benjamin
Stockley before us and request you would summon such material
witnesses as you think necessary and can establish the Charges and
send them over with the said Stockley to testify against him. We
wish you had mentioned the County in which Capt. Beack resides
and his Christian Name, on a Supposition that he lives in Cecil or
Harford County, we have sent a warrant to each of the Lieutenants
of their Counties. You will do well in endeavouring to apprehend the
Insurgents that broke Lewis Town Goal and if you should be suc-
cessful, it will be proper to send them under a sufficient Guard of
the Militia of that County to the executive of the Delaware State;
any Expences you may necessarily incur in performing this Business
will be defrayed. As to the Persons of your County who may har-
bour the Insurgents knowing them to be such, we think they ought
to be presented at the General Court of the Eastern shore. It gives
us great Pleasure to be informed that the Law to enforce the Pay-
ment of Taxes in Somerset County has produced the desired Effect,
and wish it was more general. We have sent you a Blank Com-
mission agreeably to your Request it appears from our Book that the
Company is officered, if that is the Case you must not displace any
of the officers to introduce Mr Dennis
