[Council to Mr. John Brookes.]

Your of the 25th Ult. and 1st Instant are received we were so much
engaged the last week that we had not Time to write to you. The Salt
shall be sent vou to morrow or next Day at farthest. It is not in
our Power at Present to supply you with any Money as our Treasury
is entirely exhausted.

Saturday 3d February 1781

Ordered That the Commissary of Stores deliver to Sergt Benjamin
Fitzgerald of the 7th Regiment a Compleat suit of Cloaths, John
Carson of the 3d Regimt one pair of Overalls and one Jacket Francis
Burton of the 1st Regimt one shirt and one hat. William Braughton
of the 6th one Coat, vest, pair of Overalls one Blanket, one shirt and
one pair of shoes, Henry Livingston and George Field of the 3" regt
each, one Coat one vest one pair of Overalls one Blanket and one
shirt. Sergt William Morgan of the Maryland Artillery one Blanket
and also to Colo Adams, Linen for two shirts in part of the Articles
allowed him by the General Assembly for the year 1781
That the Issuing Commissary send fifteen bushels of Salt to John
Smith Brookes upper Marlborough
That Christopher Edelin Esquire Collector of the Tax for Fred-
erick County pay to George Murdock Esquire Commissary for sup-
plying the Convention Troops Thirty thousand pounds on Account.
That the western shore Treasurer deliver to Colo Uriah Forrest
one hundred and fifty hhds of Tobacco on Account
Commissions issued to Philip Thomas appointed Captain and
John Ross Key Lieut of a Troop of Horse in Frederick County raised
in Virtue of an " Act to encourage the raising a Volunteer Troop of
Light Horse in Baltimore Town and each County of this State."

[Council to George Murdock, Esqr.]

The Commissaries of Prince George's Charles St Marys and Mont-
gomery Counties have orders to send forward immediately all the
Provisions they may have, for the use of the Convention Troops
and Guard. You will [find] herewith an Order on the Collector of
Frederick County for thirty thousand Pounds, which we hope will
answer for the Present till we can give you a further supply. The
Treasury is at so low an Ebb that it will not enable us to furnish you
with any Money. If the Collector of Frederick County should have
it in his Power to supply you with more than we have directed, on
Application from you, we shall order a further sum.
