196 Assembly Proceedings, August 5-September 28, 1745.

L. H. J.
Liber No. 46
p. 537

Your Committee conceive likewise, that other Sheriffs have not
fully satisfied the publick Assessments made in the Years 1741 and
1742: nor the full of the Ordinary Licenses returned by the Clerks
of the respective Counties, But as a thorough Examination and stat-
ing their several Accounts would take more Time than is at present
to spare
Your Committee recommend, that the Commissioners or Trus-
tees for emitting Bills of Credit, be directed to write to the several
County Courts, to order the Clerks respectively to return exact
Accounts of all Licenses granted. And also if the Persons taking
the same have not paid their Fines, that they direct the respective
Clerks of Indictments to sue their Recognizances, and compel a Com-
pliance, according to the Act in that Case. As also that the said
Commissioners write to the several Sheriffs, who have received any
money under the said respective Acts not accounted for, to pay in the
same, And that the said Commissioners or Trustees, direct the Clerk

of their Office to state an Account, in a distinct Book for that Pur-
pose, with each respective Sheriff, who have in Virtue of the said
Acts received the publick Assessment, or the Fines for Ordinary
Licenses charging the different Assessments taken before or here-
after to be made as also the Ordinary Licenses according to the
Returns of the respective County Clerks, and Crediting the several
Payments by them made, or to be made and the same to return to
the next Session of Assembly.
All which is humbly submitted to the Consideration of your
honourable House Signed per Order. R. Dorsey Cl. Com.
