N. B. The Shop note for the above mentioned Powder and Ball
not being produced, it appears by Bill of Lading only, that the Quan-
tity of Powder was twenty half Barrels, and one Hundred Caggs
of Shot.
Which being read, the House concurs therewith, and the further
Consideration of that Part of the said Report which relates to
Robert Ungle Esqr is referred to the fourth Day of the next Session
of Assembly.
Mr Nicholas Goldsborough delivers Mr Speaker the following
Report, viz.
By the Committee appointed to enquire, wherefore the several
Sheriffs have been deficient in the Payment of the Money received
by them in the respective Counties, on Account of Ordinary Licenses
and publick Assessment. September 27. 1745
Your Committee find by Inspection into the Books of the Loan
Office, and on the best Examination they were able to make, that
the following several Sheriffs are deficient to the Publick on Account
of the two following Acts, viz.
An Act for issuing and paying out of the Office of the Commis-
sioners or Trustees for emitting Bills of Credit established by Act
of Assembly, the sum of £2562.. 10 Current money, in Bills of Credit,
to be applied for the Encouragement of Persons voluntarily inlisting
themselves in his Majesty's Service; and an Act entituled An Act
for raising and issuing money, for maintaining his Majesty's Forces
to be raised in this Province, and for Transporting them to the Place
of Rendezvous in the West Indies; as by the Account hereunto an-
nexed appears, viz.
Mr Benjamin Bradford late Sheriff of Cecil County £93...15.. 7 3/4
Mr Richard Porter Sheriff of Talbot County 85.. 18.. 6
Mr Edward Trippe late Sheriff of Dorchester County. 134.. 10.. 10 3/4
Your Committee humbly conceive, that the Attorney Genera
should be directed to sue the Bonds of the said several Sheriffs, ac-
cording to the Years wherein the Ballances aforesaid became due
for the Recovery and due placing thereof, according to the Direc
tions of the said respective Acts.
