Gentlemen of the Lower House of Assembly,
I have ordered the Treaty lately made by our Commissioners, on
Behalf of this Province, with the six Nations of Indians, to be laid
before you T. Bladen
To all People to whom these Presents shall come, Connasatego,
Tachannutic, Johnuhat, Caxhayion, Toruchdadou, Netokanqhak,
and Rotirrawuchto, Sachems or Chiefs of the Nation of the Onon-
dagoes; Sagucksonyunt, Gachraddodow, Hutasalyakon, Rowanho-
hiso, Osochquah, Seayenties, Sachems or Chiefs of the nation of the
Cahugas; Swadany alias Shukelimy, Onichnaxqua, Onock-kally-
dawy, alias Watsatuha, Tohashwanrarorows, Arughhoeth-thaw,
and Tior-haasery, Sachems or Chiefs of the nation of the Oneydos ;
Sidowax, Attinsgn, Tuwaiadachqua, Sachems or Chiefs of the Na-
tion of the Tucaroros; Tanasanegos, and Taurchiuntus, Sachems
or Chiefs of the nation of the Senikerrs; send Greeting,
Whereas the six United Nations of Indians, laying claim to some
Lands on Potomack and Susquehanna River, in the Province of
Maryland, signified their Willingness to enter into a Treaty con-
cerning the same. Whereupon Edmund Jennings, Philip Thomas,
Robert King and Thomas Colvill, Esquires were deputed by the
Governor of the said Province, as Commissioners to treat with the
said six Nations, or their Deputies, Sachems or Chiefs, as well of
and concerning their said Claim, as to renew the Covenant Chain
between the said Province, and the said six Nations; and the said
Commissioners having met at Lancaster, in Lancaster County, and,
as a Foundation for a strict Amity and Peace at this Juncture, agreed
with the said Sachems or Chiefs of the said six Nations for a Dis-
claimer and Renunciation of all their Claim or Pretence of Right
whatsoever, of the said six Nations to the Land contained within the
Lines hereafter expressed. Now know ye, that and in Consideration
of the Sum of Three Hundred Pounds, current money of Pennsyl-
vania, paid and delivered to the above named Sachems or Chiefs,
partly in Goods and partly in Gold money, by the said Commission-
ers; they the said Sachems or Chiefs, on Behalf of the said six Na-
tions, do hereby renounce and disclaim to the Right Honourable the
Lord Baltimore, Lord Proprietary of the said Province of Maryland,
his Heirs and Assigns, all Pretence of Right or Claim whatsoever
of the said six nations, of, in, or to any Lands that lie on Potomack,
alias Cohongaroutan, or Susquehanna Rivers, or in any other Place
between the Great Bay of Chesapeak and a Line beginning at about
two Miles above the uppermost Fork of Cohongaroutan or Poto-
mack, on the North Branch of the said Fork, near which Fork Capt.
Thomas Cresap has a hunting or trading Cabbin, and from thence
by a North course to the Boundaries of the Province of Pennsyl-
vania, and so with the Bounds of the said Province of Pennsylvania
to Susquehanna River; but in case such Limits shall not include
the present Inhabitants or Setters, then such and so many other Line
