Liber No. 46

On Motion of a Member, that a Bill be brought in to condemn
a certain Quantity of Land at Rock Creek Landing, on Potowmack
River, for the building of a Rolling House, or Houses &ca Leave
given and Ordered, that the Committee of Laws prepare and bring
in the same.
On Reading the Petition of Samuel Preston Moore, Margaret
Moore, Richard Moore Mordecai Moore, Thomas Moore, and
Charles Moore; and the Petition of Elizabeth Hanson.
Mr Smith, Maj. Hall, and Mr Wm Wilkinson, are appointed a
Committee to inquire into the Facts set forth in the said Petitions.
Col. Hammond from the Upper House, delivers Mr Speaker a
Petition of the Inhabitants of Baltimore and Jones's Towns, praying
that the said two towns may be laid out into one Town, Indorsed
By the Upper House of Assembly, Aug. 28. 1745. Read and re-
ferred to the Consideration of the Lower House of Assembly.

Which Petition was here read and granted

And a Petition of sundry the Free holders and Inhabitants of the
upper Parts of Dorchester and Queen Ann's Counties, praying, that
a Bill may be brought in for erecting a new County out of the upper
Parts of the said two Counties, Indorsed, By the Upper House of
Assembly Aug. 28. 1745. Read and referred to the Consideration
of the Lower House of Assembly

The following Message (See page 23)
Was sent to the Upper House by Maj. Sherredine, and Capt.
Hopper.

Mr Speaker communicates to the House the following Message
from his Excellency, viz.

Gentlemen of the Lower House of Assembly
His Lordship having received the Address of the late Lower
House of Assembly, concerning an Offer of a certain Sum in lieu
of his Quit Rents, has been pleased to signify to me, that altho' he is
perfectly sensible an Equivalent can hardly be given him for such
an increasing Income; yet that I may endeavour to settle such a
Composition, and on such Terms as may be reasonable for his Lord-
ship, easy to his Tenants, and conducive to the Happiness of the
whole Province. T. Bladen.
On motion of a member, that a Bill be brought in to make valid
some Defects in antient Conveyances of Lands; Leave given, and
Ordered, that the Committee of Laws prepare and bring in the same.
Mr Speaker communicates to the House, the following Message,
and Treaty, from the Governor, viz.
