Pounds per Hundred for every Hundred Pounds so to be collected
and paid, and so pro rato for a greater or less sum; and they are
hereby obliged and required to return an Account of their Transac-
tions in Relation to said Duty, on Oath, to the House of Delegates,
when the said House shall meet, at any Time during the Continu-
ance of this Act, and a final Account to the first House of Delegates
that shall meet after the Expiration thereof.
And be it further Enacted, by the Authority, Advice, and Con-
sent aforesaid, That the said Col. Edward Sprigg shall enter into
Bond with two good Sureties in the Sum of two Thousand Pounds
Sterling, to render a just and true Account to the House of Dele-
gates of Maryland, of what moneys he shall receive by Virtue of
this Act, and how the same hath been applied; which Bond he shall
enter into before some one of his Lordship's Justices of the Provin-
cial Court, who is hereby impowered to take the same, payable to the
Lord Proprietary for the Use of the House of Delegates of the
Province of Maryland, and such Bond return into the Secretary's
Office, there to be kept.
And be it further Enacted, That the said Col. Edward Sprigg
shall receive the sum of five Pounds per Hundred, for receiving,
remitting and paying the moneys arising for the aforesaid Impost
or Duty, according to the Directions of this Act, and so pro rato for
a larger or lesser sum.
And be it further Enacted, That from and after the End of this
present Session of Assembly, in Case of Shipwreck or other Loss of
any Ship or Ships, Vessel or Vessels, so that the Tobacco therein
laden be lost before the Delivery of each Ship or Vessel at the in-

tended Port, that then the master, Merchant, or Owner, of such
Tobacco so loaden and lost as aforesaid, who shall have paid the
Duties aforesaid, shall have the Liberty to ship at some other Time,
so many Hogsheads of Tobacco as they had formerly paid Impost
money for as aforesaid, free and clear of any of the said Impositions.
Provided, That in case of the Death or Removal out of this Prov-
ince of the said Col. Edward Sprigg, that then and in such Case the
said Sum of two Pence Sterling per Hogshead shall be by the said
Naval Officers paid to Philip Hammond Esqre for the uses and
Purposes aforesaid; who shall and he is hereby directed to give the
like Security, and in like manner, as by this Act the said Col. Edward
Sprigg is directed to give; and that he the said Philip Hammond
retain the like Commission, and transmit the said Duty, as herein
before directed, to and for the uses and Purposes aforesaid.
Provided always, That in case of the Death of the said James
Buchanan, that then and in such Case the said Col. Edward Sprigg,
or Philip Hammond Esqre or which of them shall at such Time nego-
tiate the matters in this Act by them, or either of them, to be nego-
tiated, shall transmit such Bills of Exchange to Mr William Hunt
