established by Act of Assembly, and to the same Purposes and Uses
as therein directed; and the said several and respective Sherifs
within this Province are, in Virtue of their Office hereby ordered and
directed to receive and pay the same accordingly.
And be it further Enacted by the Authority aforesaid, That this
Act, and every matter and Clause therein shall be and continue in
full Force and Virtue, until the said Sum of three Thousand Pounds
shall be fully replaced, paid in, and satisfied unto the said Commis-
sioners or Trustees for emitting Bills of Credit, established by Act
of Assembly, and until the End of the next Session of Assembly
which shall happen thereafter, And that in Case any Sum ro Sums
shall happen to remain and be over and above the said Sum of three
Thousand Pounds, either received by the said Commissioners or
Trustees, or other Persons, by Virtue of this Act. the said Trustees,
Sherifs, or those in whose Hands the same shall be, shall account for
the same to the next General Assembly; and such Overplus is hereby
appropriated and directed to be applied towards defraying the pub-
lick Charge of this Province
And be it likewise Enacted, That the said Commissioners or Trus-
tees for emitting Bills of Credit; shall and they are hereby directed
to place to the Credit of the Account of the Province of Maryland,
for use of this Act, herein before directed to be stated, all moneys by
them to be received in virtue of this Act, distinguishing the Head on
which the same shall be, by whom and when paid.
And be it further Enacted, That the several and respective Sherifs
within this Province, for the Receiving and Payment of the several
and respective Fines, Duties and Forfeitures, in this Act mentioned,
and paying the same unto the Commissioners or Trustees for emit-
ting Bills of Credit, shall have the Sum of five pounds for every
Hundred Pounds by them so received and paid as herein directed.
And Whereas from his Majestys great Goodness and Paternal
Care over all his People, we humbly presume it will not be disagree-
able to his Royal Pleasure, in order to enable us his most loyal, liege,
and dutiful Subjects, at all Times, by an Agent in London, to ap-

proach his most sacred person on all urgent and proper Occasions,
that we raise and levy on our selves a Sum sufficient for the support
of an Agent their for such Purposes. It is therefore prayed that it
may be Enacted.
And be it Enacted by the Authority Advice and Consent aforesaid,
that there shall be levied a Duty or Impost of two Pence Sterling for
every Hogshead of Tobacco which shall be exported in any Ship or
Vessel out of this Province, from and after the End of this present
Session of Assembly, for and during the Continuance of this Act,
to be collected and received by the several and respective Naval Offi-
cers in this Province, in the same manner as other Duties on Tobacco
