The house met according to Adjournment &c.
Ordered that a Bill be brought in to Continue the Assize and
County Courts
The Bill Entituled an Act to prevent excessive and Deceitful
Gaming, Was read the second time and will not pass
Sent to the Upper House by Mr Beale and Mr Courts.
The Bill Entituled an Act for the Relief of poor Distressed
Prisoners for Debt was sent to the Upper House by Mr Gumming
and three more
Ordered that the Committee of Laws Prepare and Address to the
Lord Prory concerning the Report from the Committee of Ag-
grievances.
Collo Ward from the Upper House Delivered to Mr Speaker the
Bill Entituled an Act for the Limitation of Officers fees Indorsed.
Read the second time, & Will not pass.
Mr Dulany from the Committee of Laws brings in an Address to
bis Lordship Viz.

The Humble Address of the Lower House of Assembly.
May it Please Your Lordship
By an Act of Assembly of this Province Certain days are Ap-
pointed in which the Several County Courts therein, are to be held
in the Year; which Act Limits the Number of Courts to four, And
gives Power to any two Justices, (One being of the Quorum,) when
and as Often as need shall require, to Adjourn the said County
Courts Process and proceedings therein Depending to such short
time as they shall see Convenient which only Impower the Justices
to Adjourn in Order to finish Business Actually Depending and not
for the return of any Original Writts, Notwithstanding which the
Justices of Talbot County Court have Assumed a Power of Appoint-
ing and holding a fifth Court in the said County to which Original
Writts are made returnable expressly Contrary to the said Act of
Assembly which Practice this House conceives to be a Dangerous
Encroachment on the Legislative Authority, Your Lordships Pre-
rogative and an Aggrievance to the people And that our Duty to his
Lordship and the People we represent Obliges us to Apply to your
Lordship & to pray that your Lordship would be pleased to give
